November 13-19 is a focus on Education Week in Washington State-and 90-anniversary of American Education Week. School districts in Washington, including the Marysville school district, encourage legislators and community members to learn more about their public schools and understand the often difficult, but it is always important, work we do. We encourage everyone to see what is really happening in our public schools and to watch the high quality and innovative work that happens every day in our classes, and learn more about how we can all play a role in ensuring the future growth and success in schools everywhere.
Educators, students, parents, policymakers, and communities work together to prepare students for the future. Although significant State budget cuts, Washington's fourth and eighth grade students continue to perform above the national average in reading and mathematics. Washington State students consistently score higher than the national average on the Act. And in Washington students have SAT, the average score is the highest in the country among the countries in which more than half the students took the exam.
Education today is more important than ever. Eight percent of future family wage jobs will require some college. Almost all students have to pass on time and ready for College and career opportunities. Public schools are required to do what has never been done before-ensure the success of each student. Doing so requires the joint efforts of educators, students, parents, policymakers, and community. Schools that are the result of the effective teacher is committed, strong leadership, school curriculum is an exciting, safe and supportive climate and parents involved. District we take this responsibility seriously and diligently work with parents, educators and community members to make our schools better. Investment in education is important for the future of our students, community and our country. During the week of education, we take this opportunity to thank our dedicated educators, support staff and School Board members who are working to make every student succeed. To learn more about what is happening today in our schools, please contact the building principal or district offices. We'd love to hear from You.
